Dear Parents/Caregivers, Students, Staff, and Friends of Saint David’s Parish School,
As we wrap up an eventful and inspiring Term 2, I would like to take a moment to thank each of our families for your ongoing support. Whether you’ve attended school events, cheered on students from the sidelines, or simply partnered with us in day-to-day learning, your presence and involvement have been deeply appreciated. Our school thrives because of the strong relationships we share.
Semester 1 Reports & Learning Conversations
Over the past few weeks, our dedicated teachers have been thoughtfully preparing Semester 1 Reports. These will be sent home on Wednesday 2 July. Early next term, we will offer Learning Conversations, an opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet with teachers to discuss your child's progress and celebrate their achievements.
Staff Updates
We say a heartfelt thank you and farewell to Miss Julia Bugden, who joined us this year as one of our Year 6 teachers. Julia will be finishing her time at Saint David’s Parish School at the end of this term. We wish her the very best in her next chapter.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to Ms Mim Everett, who concludes her role as our OSHC Director to begin a well-deserved retirement. Over her six years of dedicated service, Mim has been a guiding presence for countless students and families. She will be greatly missed.
We are pleased to welcome several new staff members:
- Mrs Tessa Hallet and Mrs Laura Edmunds, who will co-teach in Year 6
- Mr Zav Totani, our newly appointed OSHC Director
- Mrs Kim Chenoweth and Mr Joshua Barone, who join us next term as the Transition Teachers
We’re excited about the contributions they will make to our school community.
End of Term & Positive Play Points Celebration
As Term 2 draws to a close, we are excited to celebrate with a special day on Friday, 4 July. On this day, everyone is invited to wear their pyjamas as a reward for collectively filling the Positive Play Point Box! Students will be dismissed early at 12:30 pm.
Thank you to Student Voice for suggesting fun ways to celebrate—pyjama day was the winning idea, and we’re thrilled to enjoy a cosy send-off together.
OSHC services will be available on both:
- Friday 4 July (early dismissal)
- Monday 21 July (School Development Day)
We wish all our families a safe, happy, and restful holiday break.
We look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready to begin Term 3 on Tuesday 22 July.
With every best wish,
Leader of Learning, Diversity and Wellbeing
What a busy and productive term we have had! As we look back, it’s clear we’ve achieved a great deal. Your child’s hard work and persistence will no doubt be reflected in their school report.
As we celebrate the end of Term 2, it's important to remember that success comes in many forms. While academic progress is important, we also value the kindness, creativity, resilience, and teamwork our students show every day. Every child brings their own unique strengths to our school community, and we are proud of each and every one of them.
Reporting Update – Health and Physical Education
As we approach report time, we would like to clarify how your child’s Health and Physical Education grades are determined.
Health is taught and assessed by your child’s classroom teacher, while Physical Education is taught and assessed by Mr. Cameron Brealey. These assessments are then combined and moderated to form a single grade and effort rating, which will appear on your child’s report.
If you would like further information or a more detailed breakdown of these assessments, please feel free to contact both Mr. Cameron Brealey and your child’s classroom teacher. They will be happy to discuss your child’s progress and provide any additional insights.
NCCD Data Collection
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year. The NCCD is a collection that counts the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability and the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students. The NCCD uses the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. Schools provide this information to education authorities. The NCCD takes place in August each year. The NCCD is compulsory and all schools must collect and submit information each year for the NCCD. This is detailed in the Australian Education Regulation 2013. For more information, please click the link below.
Thank you for your continued support throughout Term 2. We are proud of all that our students have achieved and look forward to an exciting and rewarding Term 3. Wishing all our families a safe and restful break!
Kind Regards,
RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

SAPSASA Football Carnival – Division 2 Champions!
What a sensational performance from our 15 students who competed in the SAPSASA Football Carnival! Representing our school with pride, the team demonstrated fantastic teamwork, skill, and camaraderie throughout the event.
Playing five matches across the day, the team worked seamlessly together and gave 100% in every game. Their communication, cooperation, and commitment were clear to see – and it brought results! The boys went undefeated, winning all five of their matches and claiming the Division 2 trophy.
A huge shoutout goes to the team’s coach, who led with a brilliant mix of strategy, encouragement, and just the right amount of humour to keep the boys focused and relaxed.
We’d also like to give a very special thank you to Mr Ferguson, who took on the all-important roles of goal umpire and scorer. His sharp eye and decisive signalling kept the games ticking smoothly! And of course, a big thanks to Miranda for volunteering and supporting the team throughout the day also waving the flags with impeccable technique!
Congratulations again to our Division 2 champions – an incredible achievement and a day filled with pride, teamwork, and fun!
Catholic School Basketball Carnival
On Wednesday, 12 June, a group of 14 enthusiastic students proudly represented our school at the Catholic School Basketball Carnival. It was a day filled with energy, excitement, and school spirit as all our representing teams took to the courts, eager to showcase their skills and teamwork.
Throughout the day, both teams displayed great determination and resilience. They worked hard in every match, supported each other, and played with excellent teamwork. Their efforts paid off, with both teams finishing 6th overall – a wonderful result given the tough competition on the day.
We are incredibly proud of how our students conducted themselves both on and off the court. They showed respect, teamwork, and a love for the game, which truly reflected the values of our school.
A very special thank you to Mari for generously volunteering her time to assist on the day. Your support and encouragement meant a lot to the team and helped the day run smoothly.
Congratulations to all students involved – you should be very proud of your efforts!

As we continue to experience the winter months, many of us may be noticing changes in our sleep patterns. With shorter days and longer nights there is less sunlight to be experienced which can disrupt our internal body clocks or circadian rhythms. With less sunlight exposure our body produces more melatonin (the hormone that induces sleepiness) and less serotonin (which affects mood and energy levels).
Prioritising sleep and supporting our natural body rhythms can help us stay healthy, happy, and energised through the winter months. Going to bed at the same time each day is a proven basic factor to a good sleep routine. For children, following a bedtime routine that includes calming pre-activities such as teeth-brushing, reading or sharing a story, avoiding late night snacks and using electronic devices a good 30 – 60 minutes before trying to go to sleep is suggested by sleep experts on many public health, sleep research, medical and education forums.

Saint David’s Parish School will be introducing a ‘Concussion Officer’. Our Concussion Officer will be Tracy Roberts. The role of the Concussion Officer will be to liaise between parents and school staff regarding known concussions of students (whether they occur during, or outside of school time). The Concussion Officer will be responsible for communicating with school staff regarding exclusion time for sport, PE and overly active play as recommended by the student’s health care professional. They will also ensure that our school is managing any concussions as per the First Aid Procedure and the Australian Concussion Guidelines for Youth and Community Sport.
Please note that the Concussion Officer is not an expert and is not expected to diagnose concussions. Their role will be similar to that of a Fire Warden, in that they ensure the school is following agreed concussion procedures and communicating to school staff as necessary.
If your child suffers a concussion, whether that be during school time, or out of school time, and they seek medical treatment from a health care professional, we ask that you provide a clearance from the health care professional. This clearance needs to be provided to Tracy with her regarding any specific needs for your child.
